Sentinel and PriceLabs Athena, compared fairly
PriceLabs built an analyst inside PriceLabs. Sentinel sits on top and adds your true competitors, your reviews and how you did last year, night by night. You keep both.
Based on the public Athena page and the PriceLabs API, October 2026. Where we are guessing rather than seeing, we say so.
What you get
Same listing, same two weeks. Here is what each one hands you.
This listing has fewer bookings than usual.
No recommendation night by night. The two settings below lower the whole calendar at once, including the nights that were already selling well.
6 nights up, 5 nights down, 3 left as they are.
Each night gets its own answer. Your floors, ceilings and overrides are respected.
For what we can see in the PriceLabs API, price recommendations come in two types: base price and minimum price. The Athena page does not say what its recommendations run on. We assume it is these two until someone shows us otherwise.
Sentinel also ranks every card across your whole portfolio by money at risk, so the first card you open is the one worth the most.
What each one looks at
Athena looks at your PriceLabs settings and your own booking history. Sentinel also looks at your true competitors, your reviews and how you did last year.
Where Athena is ahead today
Athena is free while in beta. PriceLabs has not said what it will cost after. Plan on a price, not on zero.
It is already inside the account you have. Sentinel connects to PriceLabs in minutes through the partner API, but it is still a step.
Ask a question, get an answer from your own account. Ask Sentinel is on our roadmap. Today, Sentinel answers through cards.
Describe a check in plain English and Athena runs it on a schedule. With Sentinel the checks already run on their own. You don't get to build them yourself, but you don't need to.
Same on both
Where the two are the same, we say so. Don't pick either one for these reasons.
Questions we get
No. Sentinel sits on top of PriceLabs. PriceLabs keeps setting your daily prices; Sentinel tells you which nights to move up or down, by how much, and which listing to look at first. You keep PriceLabs, and you can keep Athena too.
For what we can see in the PriceLabs API, price recommendations come in two types: a base price change and a minimum price change. Both move the whole calendar at once. Alerts arrive as things happen; they are not ordered by how soon you need to act. The Athena page does not say what its recommendations run on; we assume it is these two until shown otherwise.
A specific change per night: some nights up, some down, some left alone, with the reasons, the money at risk, and your floors, ceilings and overrides respected. Cards are ordered by urgency to act, based on how far ahead each listing usually books, and by money at risk across your whole portfolio, so the first card you open is the one that can't wait.
Yes. Sentinel selects 20 to 30 true competitors per listing and shows them in the app today. Their occupancy enters the pricing decision with V17 this week, and their prices become guardrails on recommendations in November 2026. PriceLabs prices against an average of nearby listings.
Yes. Sentinel reads your rating and review count and adjusts recommendations up or down. For what we can see, PriceLabs leaves that to you through your base price.
Athena is free while in beta. PriceLabs has not announced what it will cost afterwards.
PriceLabs sets your prices from the average of nearby listings and the settings you give it. Sentinel adds information PriceLabs does not use: what your true competitors charge and how full they are, your rating and reviews, and how each listing is pacing against last year. More information per night means a more accurate price per night, and a ranked list of which listing to fix first. It is built for operators with 25 to 500+ listings who already run dynamic pricing.
Dynamic pricing sets rates. Sentinel sets priorities. Start by looking at the true competitors Sentinel picks for your listings, and decide for yourself if we chose well.
